If things weren't good enough on the site at the moment, today I'm proud to announce a new team member.  His name is Andy Oakley, he used to be a graphic artist on the Amiga.  Andy will be bringing a fresh perspective on reviews to the site and we will have to watch this space for some other exciting news from Andy.  Although I cant say anything else it will be worth it.  Welcome aboard :)

Also, if you spend any time in our forum, you might notice The +4 King has introduced himself to the site.  I think that I speak for all of us on the site, that we welcome you back to discussions about the C16/Plus 4 and may your stay be long.

SID Project Update

Good news,

The SID card project for the Plus 4 is underway. We are now in the process of collecting SID chips for the card. Unfortunately this means we will have to remove them from C64's, unless we can find another source. Please let us know your opinions in the forum.

But overall excellent progress

New Team Member

Today seems to be a good day for the site. I have the pleasure of introducing a new team member, Patrick (patrick1730). Patrick comes to the site with a life time of experience in our wonderful machine. A true believer he has owned a C16 from 1985. Patrick will be bringing some fresh idea's to the site.

27th March 2005

The competition day has come, you have the chance of winning some great C16/Plus 4 software in original format.  Just one simple question lies in your path, answer that and you could win the software.  Closing date for the competition is 27th April 2005.  Have a look at the competition page for more details.  Have fun!!!!!

25th March 2005

Last weekend I attended the Commodore Scene meet up in Garforth.  An excellent time was had by all.  Some surprising news is that the weekend wasn't totally about the C64, but the Plus 4 was used so much.  Firstly, Jason (TMR) showed us some of his Plus 4 games/demo's that he produced and also some of his finished work.  We are proud to announce that we have been provided a copy of this work and will be reviewing it shortly on the site.  Downloads wont be offered as the products will be sold through Cronosoft as commercial game.  Shaun Bebbington introduced me to GEOS for the Plus 4, which is just so out of this world and in the next few weeks I will be putting a article together for the site.  More details to come very soon!!!!!!

Here's some pictures from the weekend.  (The quality isn't too good as two of them are taken with my phone)

The plus 4 in action with Jason's new game.

On a last note, only 2 days to the start of the competition!!!

27th January 2005

I will be producing a bi-monthly article for Retro Revival on the Commodore 16/Plus 4, hoping to share the system and community to a wider audience.  The first article includes a history lesson and top ten game recommendations, it was really interesting and fun to write it and look forward to continuing my contribution to Retro Revival.  Please check out the Retro Revival website, it includes downloadable issues in PDF format.  The magazine is extremely well put together with a enormous retro coverage, and now includes our wonderful Commodore 16/Plus 4

19th January 2005

This is so funny.  I received a email today about the polish translation of the website.  Apparently it makes no sense at all, the comedy forums in Poland have been having a really good laugh.  Well if its getting me 500 hits extra a day, then great.  It gives people a really good laugh and might introduce them to the Commodore 16.  So a positive out of a funny negative.

3rd January 2005

Happy new year everyone, I assume everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Year.  We have some great news, Spector has written another brilliant review of a C16/Plus 4 game BMX Racers. I hope you all enjoy reading it as I did, thanks Spector :)

10th December 2004

Well its not long till were all opening our presents on Christmas day, enjoying time with and family.  I may be a grown man, but I still like my toys and one of my presents is going to be a corker this year.  I'm getting a GP32, I've read so much about about it I'm drooling at the expectation.  The GP32 is a emulation dream handheld machine.  It can play so many things and even has a emulator for the Commodore 16/Plus 4, imagine a portable C16/Plus 4 WOW.  If you want to know more check out the two new links on the site.

11th November 2004

Over the last few days I have been having a conversation with Cronosoft UK  Simon Ullyatt.  I was investigating any future release plans for the C16/Plus 4, here's what he had to say:

"I can't give any dates as to when we'll see the first C16 or Plus 4 title, only that it WILL happen! I'd like to see a
good range of software for that format, though I guess the chances of people converting games from other
formats may be dependent on how successful the first title is.

If you could let it be known on your site that we really do welcome new games for release, then that
would be great.

I'm sure that if anyone from the 16/+4 community wants to convert any existing games, then the programmers of
the original games would be all too willing to advise. (for example, we've just had our Spectrum title
EGGHEAD IN SPACE converted across to the Acorn Electron/BBC Micro)."

This is such good news for all the C16/Plus 4 programmers out there, if you have made a great new title or fancy converting one of the Cronosoft UK titles.  We may someday soon have a brand new commercial release.

17th October 2004

Breaking news!!!!!  Jurek has nearly completed his new add-on, which is a 64kb upgrade for the C16/C116.  It will be available in one months time and at the moment only available on pre-order.  This is the start of things to come, after a few conversations this week we shall be seeing quite a few new products appearing shortly.

12th September 2004

Today work has started again on my remake of Out On A Limb, for those that have road tested the demo, a big thank you to all.  My main aim is to make the file alot smaller, so it becomes more accessible to all.  Also to correct sprite detection and do alot of work on the graphics.

Over the next week I will write a few more reviews.  I'm looking forward to that as I get to play with my Plus 4, which is always good fun.

11th August 2004

Things have been moving along at a steady rate over the last day or so.  The shop is fully up and working, keep and eye out for some exciting products coming this way.  The German conversion is complete, so for all you German speaking surfers, enjoy.  In the future I might consider adding another language.  Two new links have been added for Retro-Trader & Console Passion, please have a look round the sites as they stock some interesting items.

7th August 2004

This is the biggest news the site has had to announce since its launch, a new team member will be joining the ranks.  His name is Jurek from Poland and he will be running the Hardware department of the site.  As well as recreating add-ons for the C16/Plus 4, he will be creating new ones too.  There are lots of idea's bouncing around between us, but if you have any suggestions/requests either make a post on the forum or email Jurek directly.  Also the worldwide hardware shop, where you can purchase these items at realistic prices will be going live very soon.  Will keep you posted and I hope you all welcome Jurek to the site.

Also its still taking some time to get the German pages uploaded so here is a link to the older version of the site till its completed   This part of the site is taking longer than anticipated, so we have a few options, either we wait till I complete the German version of the site.  Or if there is someone who would like to join the commodore16.com team and take over maintenance and creation of this department, please feel free to drop me a line.  I will provide website templates and as much webspace/bandwidth as you need.  Included would be your own ftp logon to the site, a @commodore16.com email address, and a free hand in content (obviously will have to be similar to the main site but idea's of your own are ok too)

24th July 2004

Whilst scanning through the net this afternoon, I found quite a few remakes of old Commodore 16/+4 games.  I therefore created a page dedicated to these fantastic software programmers.  I can't stop playing them, so addictive.

Also its still taking some time to get the German pages uploaded so here is a link to the older version of the site till its completed

3rd June 2004

Its taken about two weeks to complete the design the new layout for the site, now its up and running.  I hope you all like it and find it more user friendly and easier on the eye than the old one.  The German conversion will be available within a week or so, its just going to take a little bit more time with the translation.  The Forum is getting a little busier, which is great, please feel free to use it.  Also all the games are still available to play or download.  The advertising is now only on the playable games pages in a banner form,  please support the site by occasionally clicking on one of the advertisers.  If anyone would like a link from this site, just fill out the form and it will appear :)

21st May 2004

After a few requests I've increased the amount of playable games that are available on the site.  There are now 279 online playable games uploaded onto the site.  To access these games, click on games on the menu and then to the relevant letter.  The German conversion seems to be running alright too.  The play online page has now been replaced with a new software section (New Projects), where programmer will be offered to showcase there new projects
