This adapter is looking promising but I'm missing some basic requirements info. I have no clue if I should order this thing with or without cables. The USB cable I already have. Also I have a working C64 + 1541-II drive connected by a serial cable. Is that all the cabling I need ? Why are there 2 serial connectors ? Which types of cbm drives and which operating systems are supported ?

If you already have a usb & serial cable then you should be fine. Its just a option if people need them. 2 Serial connections for the pass through as in the original drives.

All the Commodore drives that OpenCBM support, 1541, 1571,1581 etc....
