Punchy

The rules are simple. Well just three of them really:

1. No Cheating
2. Screen shot of your score to be displayed
3. Most important, dont take it seriously and have fun

Hiya everyone,

Fancy doing something fun? How about we see who can get the highest score on punchy. Its a really frustrating game. I've found the best emulator for it is Minus4J.

Check out ----> http://www.commodore16.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=67:punchy&catid=47:games

My highscore...

My best score so far is 040421 as you can see above.

Used to be able to complete this back in the day, although I was never a great fan of it - something to do with loading times maybe?

It's gone up in my estimations somewhat now with the passing years (using yape helps I guess), although it is frustrating I agree.

Gonna try to complete it again now...

I haven't played this in a few years. The loading time didn't bother me too much as it was a single load anyway. I'll have a bash at this later. I loved this game back then, and is the best version across all formats imho. The graphics and extended colour palette in Punchy shows off the C16 brilliantly.

This gives me an idea. Perhaps it would be even more fun if we had a hi-score table category of games here, and move this to it. Proof of hi-score via emulator or preferably a photo on the real machine would be viable evidence :D

That's a great idea about the hi-score table - I can think of a few games that would merit inclusion - Kikstart, Spectipeed and Space-Pilot spring to mind, off the top of my head.

And I've still got my Winter Events records-save-tape...

Punchy is such a under rated game. It has to be one of my favourite ones on the C16, along with Xzap.

Xzap is such an under-rated and original shoot 'em up game. I think I mentioned once on lemon64 that it's the one game that "should" be converted to the C64 :D

I've made a longplay of it which I will upload on youtube soon, so may as well review it too. I lost my final life on my 5th lap. Not bad going 8)
